Thankful Time

So I did not participate in the daily post of something I'm thankful for but I did find something each day that I was grateful for and thank God for it, not just post it on fb. Particularly this month I am thankful for health insurance that is allowing me to get the dental work that I desperately need with no co-pays. This is something I would not have been able to do otherwise. While my root canal was my worst experience yet I'm feeling fine today and I'm soooo thankful that my insurance covered it. I have had to pay for a root canal out of pocket before and it was painful to the pocket not just my mouth! My insurance allows me to be healthy to get the prenatal care I need and deliver my baby without paying the hospital bill for years to come! I'm thankful for my kids. I love saying that *giggle*.  Asher blesses my life everyday, teaching me new things, instilling patience and grace in my heart and giving me the opportunity to teach what I have been taught. Baby Bu...

Being grown up

is so hard =/ Everyone said the first year of marriage is the hardest, I believed them but thought we had a head start on it because we've already lived together for a year. I was wrong. I *believe* I'm better now but I know in my first trimester I was really emotional and got upset over really insignificant things. I asked Tim to be patient with me but he really didn't know how. The things we fight over are downright silly somedays but at the time it's important. I bring up everything that upsets me and have a harder time getting over it. Tim doesn't bring up anything and then it all spills out at once every now and then. We're working on this. I'm getting better at holding my tongue and picking my battles. I have a lot of dental work to be done. I'm being a grown up and working on getting it done even though I have serious anxiety over it. Over the last few days I'm pretty sure I've had 2-4 calls a day from 1-800 numbers. Either people tel...

why is your belly big?

Every mom knows when she officially has a "bump" and not just "fat." That point comes when people start rubbing, talking to and or talking about the bump. I guess it's been about a week now that I've had this, there's no avoiding it, even strangers will want to touch you. (Haven't gotten there yet). As if this isn't enough my 3 yr old told me what he thought last night: Asher: "Mama, your belly is big." Me: "Yes handsome I know." Asher: "Why is your belly big?" Me: "Why do you think it is?" Asher: "Because there's a baby in there......and a garage." I didn't think I was THAT big. Geez Today my "due date buddy" finds out what she's having and I'm so excited for her! She went last week at 16 weeks and they couldn't tell so she's going back today. We have 24 days until we can find out. I will be 16 weeks tomorrow but we don't want to pay $80 to find out ...

14 Weeks 6 Days

Well time is starting to pass more quickly! I guess that's what happens when the holiday season approaches. This morning little man came with me to my OB appointment which was fun, he asked lots of questions wanting to know what everything did and why. All the ladies there thought he was very entertaining. Baby Burton's heartbeat has dropped down to 150 bpm from 155 at the last appt 4 weeks ago. This follows the same pattern Asher's did. So I'm beginning to think despite my morning sickness we will have a little boy. The thought actually comes as a relief since Tim and I have had such a hard time agreeing on any girls names. Let the gender reveal party planning begin! My Mama and I are planning a little party for the grandparents and close friends (plus Tim and I!!!!) to find out Baby Burton's sex by cutting open a cake . I'm so excited for this! December 6th is the day we find out what this little peanut is. Well Lord willing and legs wide open ;) After a...

Respect

I need to vent and be heard. So here goes I love my job, I love my clients. I do run into "problem clients" every now and then. They are a challenge and I accept it! Sometimes I get fed up. Today is one of those days. I guess I expect people to treat me with the same respect that I treat others with and not everyone does that. The other day my friend booked an appointment with me and I told her I would be home by 11 so she said she would come a half hour later so she didn't come the same time I was walking in the door, HOW SWEET IS THAT?! No one does that, if I'm home, they're walking in the door behind me as I unlock the door. Although that is partially my fault for saying I'm available at that point. I have a family that I like to spend time with at the end of the day, but clients want to book with me right in the middle of dinner time, when am I supposed to eat? I finish their hair and put my baby to bed..what kind of "family time" is that? I...
