My Happy Ever After

Asher talks about the Frankenstorm all the time and wants to tell everyone we run into about the Frankenstorm we went through, obviously not realizing they endured it as well. Funny kid.  We lost power for 17 hours and did not suffer any damage to our home! Woohoo! Our awesome neighbors let us come over for a 'hurricane party' and enjoy the warmth of their fireplace. My poor parents have been without power since Monday night.  I don't know if it's just me but it feels like recovering from vacation, there's so much to be done with so little motivation. However there is an impending need to get back to 'real life.' Hubby started his new/old job this morning! It's so exciting and feels like a fresh start. This job is the big break he's been waiting on and working for since I met him. This morning he told me he's going to claim 0 on his taxes with the new job because next year he's going to have 2 kids to claim. It's when he says l...

We have our canned soup, non-oven-using meals planned and propane camping stove ready to go. Meat in the freezer for grilling, candles and flashlights. Laundry is caught up (not put away but washed and dried). Dishes are *almost* caught up and all three of us cleaned. I want to make chili before the weather gets bad but I'm lacking motivation. Thought I would play around on the internet a while longer while I can. I need to print out some coloring pages or something to keep my boys busy over the next few days. I don't know what they will do without electricity. Yes I mean my almost 28 yr old husband as well. He's firmly planted between the TV and computer until the very last hour. While I was in the shower Asher decided to take a black pen to his arms, he explained he wanted to make his skin all dark to scare everyone. Smart kid. Baby Burton is reminding me of her/his presence every now and then :) My husband wants to drive around to see if anything's flooded ...

Yes I'm only 13 weeks and yes I've started to feel the flutters of our little miracle :) I must be super sensitive because I was 13 weeks when I felt Asher for the first time as well. There's  no mistaken it when it catches your attention giving you the warm fuzzies on the inside and a big grin on the outside :) So at 19 weeks is when they typically send you to find out the gender of your baby. That means I have about 6 weeks until I find out. BUT at our 11 week sonogram they told us Baby Burton is measuring a week too big. So here's my plan: My next OB visit is at 15 weeks (next week) and I'll suggest to my midwife we could get another sonogram to check on the baby since it was measuring a little big and then schedule it for when I am 16 weeks (the earliest you can tell the gender). As a result we might be able to tell the baby's gender in just over 2 weeks! Ahhhh! We might cave and just pay for another sonogram to tell the gender. When I realized how s...

Finally an official due date! April 30, 2013 which is 5 days after Big Brother's due date. I am 11 weeks and 1 day which I knew already ;)  I was thrown for a bit of a loop with my first OB visit. I made the appointment with Karen, a midwife I know and trust. She delivered our sweet little boy nearly 4 years ago! So I show up and things are a little different but for the most part I know what to expect. Well in walks Lori, a midwife I have never met. This threw me back a bit so I was hesitant to be personable with her. They wanted a lot of personal information that I don't see how it relates to my pregnancy.  I proudly answered, "married" and "planned pregnancy" to two of her questions.  So after mounds of paperwork, questions and them wanting to test the crap out of us we get down to the physical end of it. I was probed, poked, scraped, squeezed, stretched, pushed and pulled on. Finally, Lori brought out the little doppler and we held our breath!  ...

I blasted Facebook with my excitement for my husband but really wanted to take a few minutes to expand on why we're so excited.  When I met Tim he worked at PepBoys as a service writer. When Tim moved in, aka spent the night and never left, he quickly realized a PepBoys paycheck was not going to pay his half of the expenses.  This began Tim's endeavor to provide for his family. Tim aggressively pursued a job at Jones Junction where he was promised fat paychecks and wonderful benefits. When the job finally came through he found he wasn't making much more than at PepBoys . He planned to pay for my engagement ring with one of those "fat paychecks." Well as a result we now have a lovely 3 yr loan on my rock.  With Jones we scraped by but Tim wanted something more and wasn't sure what it could be. In January his boss decided Tim was too honest and didn't fit in there so he fired him. For 3 long weeks he searched and searched and put in applicatio...

Here's just a little insight into the last 4 years of my life for those of you who don't know. The summer of 2008 was kind of crazy for me, I had big time disobeyed my parents, been asked to leave their house. I moved in with my Grandmom, then moved in with a friend who went crazy and kicked me out at 2am. Thank God for Emily and her futon that night. So I was house hopping night to night, worrying my mother to death and too prideful to come back home. That was the summer I met Donny. This guy was charismatic, seemingly had a great relationship with God and believed everything I did. I was treated the way I thought was right, he adored me and while I didn't admit it for a while, I thought the world of him as well. We made very poor choices that summer and I ended up pregnant. We were devastated but I decided to love my baby and raise this child regardless of the consequences. The timing happened to be that Donny was about to leave on a missions trip, I'll leave ...

We haven't known much longer than you have but we're so excited we couldn't wait to share the news much longer :) Especially Tim. This being my second pregnancy I have a little more patience but Tim was so excited we decided to 'spill the beans.' We don't have a EDD yet, we'll go to the Dr's in October and find out what it is. But I calculated I'm due the last week in April (same week Asher was due). Which also means we should find out the gender in December! I can't wait to find out what we're having. I'd like to also keep the name that we end up choosing until the baby is born ;) This pregnancy has been different from my first and lots of people have suggested maybe it's because it's a girl!
